With thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Active Hastings have continued to roll out a number of physical activity sessions at the Downs Farm Community Centre, to help get Hastings moving!

Alongside their existing weekly Boxercise, Pilates, Weight Loss Group and Mini Movers classes, Seated Strength will be making its way to the community centre from Thursday 15 January at 11am.

Sarah Ruusuvuori, Active Hastings Coordinator said: “The Seated Strength class is perfect for people who struggle with weight-bearing exercises or are finding it tough to stand for extended periods. We understand these challenges, which is why we’re excited to announce the launch of our second Seated Strength class. We encourage people to book onto this session and build strength in a comfortable, supportive and friendly environment.”

The existing weekly Exercise for Parkinson’s class will also be moving to the Downs Farm Community Centre from Tuesday 6 January.

Councillor Glenn Haffenden, leader of the council and lead councillor for sport and leisure, said: “This project, supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, is about more than just fitness; it’s about creating opportunities for residents to connect, strengthen community ties, and embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle together.”

    Notes to editor:

Active Hastings works closely with local providers of physical activity to give you easy, fun ways to get your everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots!

Active Hastings coordinates the local Community Physical Activity Network, which brings together schools, sport clubs, National Governing Bodies of Sport, health organisations, the voluntary sector and the private sector to work together, unblock barriers to participation and improve the local sport and physical activity delivery system.

Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active.
