Hastings Museum & Art Gallery reveals new summer exhibition
Published 11/05/2023

Canadian artist Ian Kirkpatrick's exhibition Mythomania, which features 2D art and sculptures, is set to be unveiled at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery on Saturday 24 June.
Mythomania showcases Kirkpatrick's intricate and large-scale art that explores humanity's ongoing fascination with mythical narratives - from ancient Greek legends to modern superheroes and 'fake news'.
These pieces allude to ancient monuments, dragons, and robots - while the surface of them reflect our culture's continuing obsession with heroes, villains, utopias, and impending apocalypse.
Cllr Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said:
"The museum has lots of exciting exhibitions being unveiled over the summer months, including the Mythomania exhibition by Ian Kirkpatrick.
"The exhibition features art that is inspired by the past and present and incorporates observations about social themes such as war, climate change and migration. These pieces are designed using graphic design software and are then brought to life using a range of materials, including stainless steel, vinyl, Perspex, Dibond, printed tarpaulin, leather, and canvas.
"Kirkpatrick's unique art decorates many buildings across the world, including the Amstel Tower in Amsterdam, the Michael Kors Building in Rotterdam, and South Bank in Leeds, so we are delighted to have the Mythomania exhibition at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery between 24 June and 3 September.
"Entry to the museum is free, so this summer, why not come along and explore this fascinating exhibition?"
Mythomania is a 20-21 Visual Arts Centre Touring Exhibition, funded by a grant from Arts Council England.
