Hastings Neighbourhood Board has unveiled its ambitious 10-year regeneration plan, committing £20 million to transform the town and deliver lasting change.

‘A Hastings for Everyone’ sets out a vision to build pride in Hastings’ streets, neighbourhoods, and town, ensuring that every resident feels connected, valued, and confident about the future.

The plan was shaped by extensive community engagement, ensuring that priorities reflect what matters most to people across Hastings.

The investment will be delivered through three flagship programmes:

    • Pride in our Streets - up to £250,000 a year will fund cleaner, safer, and greener streets, including public realm improvements, community-led art projects, sustainable planting, and better lighting and signage.
    • Pride in our Neighbourhoods - up to £500,000 a year will revitalise parks, play areas, sports facilities, and community spaces, while supporting health programmes and opportunities for young people to learn and thrive.
    • Pride in our Town - up to £1 million per year will focus on major infrastructure and heritage projects, and creating a vibrant town and seafront, with strong cultural and business partnerships.

Kevin Boorman, the independent chair of the Hastings Neighbourhood Board, said: “This plan is called ‘a Hastings for everyone’, and that’s exactly what we want to achieve. We had an incredible 4000 responses to our consultation, an amazing figure. Responses ranged from improved sports and leisure facilities and play areas through to more litter bins and better bus shelters. We are committed to making improvements across the town, to benefit as many people as possible.

“The Board will work alongside local people, community organisations, businesses, and Hastings Borough Council to deliver the programme, ensuring all decisions are transparent and community-led, with continued engagement and ongoing involvement throughout the 10-year period.

“No specific projects have been named yet. An open and transparent call for funding requests will be made once the plan is approved by the government  in the New Year.”

Helena Dollimore MP, Member of Parliament for Hastings, Rye and the villages, said: “Local people know our area better than anyone else and that is why the Government has decided to do things differently. Whilst previous schemes saw taxpayers’ money wasted on the short-lived Owens, this time, we have the chance to improve our town by making the big decisions for ourselves, not letting other people make decisions for us. It is a pot of money intended to make our area and even better place to live. Getting an EXTRA £20 million is a massive investment in Hastings and I will keep pushing for as many residents as possible to have their say on how to spend it.”

    Notes for editors:
Hastings has been selected by the government’s Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to receive up to £20m of funding to revitalise local areas and fight deprivation at root cause by focusing on three goals: thriving places, stronger communities, and taking back control.
