“Bridging generations”
Published 13/01/2026

Hastings’ annual Holocaust Memorial Day service will take place at 11am on Saturday 24 January 2026.
The 90-minute event will be held at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings on Hastings seafront opposite the Pier. The commemoration is organised by Hastings Jewish Community.
Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 remembers the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust with this year’s theme ‘Bridging generations’.
The service will include a talk by Eva Clarke BEM, one of the youngest survivors of the Holocaust. Eva was born in the notorious Mauthausen Concentration Camp just days before its liberation. She will be telling the story of her mother, Anka Bergman, and her survival against all the odds as a pregnant Jewish woman held prisoner in Auschwitz-Birkenau and other death camps created by the Nazis.
There will also be musical and written contributions from pupils of Hastings Academy, alongside other readings and contributions including Helena Dollimore, MP.
The service is open to everyone, and admission is free. Tickets are not required.
