Putting art and culture at the heart of regeneration in Broomgrove
Published 18/05/2023

Hastings Borough Council are looking to embed an artist or artists in the process of using the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to reflect and document the heart and soul of the community.
Artists and art organisations are encouraged to come forward to provide community engagement, events, and workshops to Broomgrove residents culminating in artwork within the community as part of the UKSPF and National Portfolio Organisation Arts Council Funding project.
The project is being funded through the UKSPF which is part of the government's Levelling Up agenda. In Hastings, the funding is being targeted towards the Broomgrove area and this part of the project is aimed at delivering community events/cultural projects to those who don't usually engage in arts or heritage activities.
Cllr Andy Batsford, lead councillor for health and culture, said: "We are keen to hear from any individual or group who wants to get involved in this project with us. If you are passionate about arts and heritage and can engage with a wide range of residents please get in touch and put forward your application."
The project objectives include utilising local arts, culture, heritage and creative activities to engage with Broomgrove residents; increase skills of participants; increase use of facilities in the area, including green spaces; bring people together and celebrate diversity; provide volunteering opportunities for residents; host events and workshops; and digital activity.
For a full specification and details please visit www.hastings.gov.uk/regeneration/broomgrove-art, or contact Rosie Leech on rleech@hastings.gov.uk or 01424 451780. Applications must be received by midnight on Monday 12 June.
