Active Hastings are delighted to announce they have been shortlisted as finalists at this year’s Sussex Sport & Physical Activity Awards in the Health Improvement category. Winners of the awards will be announced on Thursday 27 November.
The Sussex Sport & Physical Activity Awards are run by Active Sussex and are one of the most prestigious events in the Sussex sporting calendar, celebrating the hard work, dedication and successes of individuals and community groups both on and off the field.
Cath Donovan, Active Hastings Physical Activity and Health Strategic Lead, said: “We are immensely proud to be shortlisted as a finalist in the Health Improvement category. This recognition celebrates the incredible work of our team and partners who help make Hastings a healthier, more active community.
“We’re also thrilled to say that our very own Scott Parker, one of our brilliant sports workers, has been named a finalist for the Rising Star Award, a well-deserved nod to his passion, dedication, and impact.
“We would also like to congratulate Ross Cudmore from Break Point Coaching, who has been named a finalist for the Sports Personality of the Year Award. Ross is a passionate and inclusive tennis coach who believes the game should be accessible to everyone, and as a player Ross is the World and European Champion in Para Standing Tennis and was a finalist at the US Open PST Invitational.
“Active Hastings are honoured to be among so many inspiring individuals and organisations making a difference through sport and physical activity across Sussex.”
Victoria Conheady, deputy chief executive and director of place, said: “We are really proud of the work that Active Hastings do across our town to encourage people to be more active. The team works with excellent providers and this has been recognised with the number of awards they have been shortlisted for.”
Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active. The team creates a range of courses and classes for adults and children to improve health and wellbeing, and to reduce health inequalities in Hastings by increasing access and participation in physical activity interventions.
