February Half Term Activities with Active Hastings
Published 02/02/2026

This February Half Term, together with local sports clubs and organisations, Active Hastings have designed a Discovery and Try Day to give young people the opportunity to take part in a range of sport sessions for free.
The Discovery and Try Day takes place on Tuesday 17 February, at Summerfields Leisure Centre, from 1.45pm to 5pm. Sessions are suitable for children aged 7 to 14 and everyone is welcome at the fun, friendly and fully inclusive sessions. Activities include basketball, futsal, cricket, rugby, racket sports, street dance, muay thai and the interactive multi-ball / wall.
Booking in advance is essential. On the day, children can register for as many activities as they like (spaces come on a first come first serve basis). There will also be a hang out area with crafts and snacks, where children can come together in-between sessions. An information hub will also be available for you to find out what activities for children are available throughout the town.
To view the timetable and to book visit eequ.org/experience/23222 (for children aged 7 to 9 – please note under 8s must be accompanied by an adult) and for 10 to 14 year olds visit eequ.org/experience/23537.
Terry Cooper, Active Hastings Youth Development Officer said: “This year’s programme has been designed to give all children the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of sports, whatever their ability, everyone is very welcome. We are delighted to be working with local sports clubs to offer this bumper timetable of activities and would like to thank Play Sport, Funk Fusion Fitness, Siam Boxing Camp, Sussex Cricket and Hastings and Bexhill Rugby Club. This event has been made possible with thanks to the Active Sussex Children and Young People Investment Funding.”
Councillor Glenn Haffenden, leader of the council and lead councillor for sport and leisure, said: “This event is a testament to what we can achieve when Active Hastings and our local sports organisations work together. We’re offering more than just an afternoon of free sport; we’re giving children a space to develop skills like teamwork and perseverance in a fun and supportive environment.”
Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active.

Notes to editor:
Active Hastings works closely with local providers of physical activity to give you easy, fun ways to get your everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots!
Active Hastings coordinates the local Community Physical Activity Network, which brings together schools, sport clubs, National Governing Bodies of Sport, health organisations, the voluntary sector and the private sector to work together, unblock barriers to participation and improve the local sport and physical activity delivery system.
