FOI request (FOIR-768708698)
Anti-poverty strategy
Requested Wed 26 November 2025
Responded Mon 15 December 2025I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from Hastings Borough Council.
- Does your council have a written anti-poverty strategy (this may also be referred to as a ‘poverty strategy’)? This may be an all-age strategy, or one focusing on a specific group of the population, such as a child poverty strategy. If so, please provide a link to the strategy if it is available publicly, or a copy via email.
- If your council does not have an anti-poverty strategy in place, does it plan to develop one within the next 12 months? If so, please provide a link to any public facing document detailing this commitment.
- Has your council voluntarily adopted the socio-economic duty? Please answer yes or no, and provide more detail if necessary. For example, you may answer “no, but we recognise socio-economic disadvantage as an additional factor in Equality Impact Assessments”. [LB1]
Response
The last time Overview and Scrutiny Committee (O&S) considered contributing to the anti-poverty strategy was at O&S on 10th March 2025, details can be found here: https://hastings.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s55567/OS+Anti+Poverty+March+2025.pdf
Since then a new O&S committee was established at Annual Council in May 2025 they have yet to pick up this work again.
