Covid-19 support for breweries

Responded Wed 15 July 2020Could you tell me whether breweries are eligible to access the Covid-19 support for businesses operating in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors through your council -- specifically the £25,000 grant, provided they meet the requirements of having a rateable value of less than £51,000, and the year-long business rates exemption.
If only some and not all breweries are eligible for this support, please could you outline the conditions under which a brewery is eligible.
Response
A brewery would be eligible to access the Small Business Grant (£10,000) if it received Small business Rate Relief on the 11 March 2020.
The Council does not consider a brewery is eligible for the Retail, Hospitality, Leisure grant (£10k or £25k) as it does not fall within the government's classification for a retail, hospitality or leisure business.
