Foster Care Data (BFCA)

Responded Mon 22 June 2026I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request information regarding foster carers and children in care within your local authority.
Specifically, I would like to request the following data for the period of 2023-2026:- The total number of approved foster carers, broken down by ethnicity.
- The total number of children in care, broken down by ethnicity.
- The number of Black and Global Majority children placed with foster carers of a different ethnicity (transracial placements).
This data is being requested to support the Black Foster Carers Alliance (BFCA) Annual State of Black Fostering Report, which aims to improve outcomes for children and support for carers through culturally responsive practice.
If it is not possible to provide the information for the full period, please provide the data for the most recent financial year.
