      I would like to request information on the Markets and projects listed in respect of Hastings Borough council.
      For each can you provide for each:
      Who/what is the name of the organisation that brings together each each market/project (Kings road, Hastings Town centre, Small plates, get Hastings) ?
      What support is given to each project, event from Hastings Borough council ?
      Does, or has Hastings Borough council given funding towards any go these events, projects?

      Please see below the information you requested regarding the markets and projects associated with Hastings Borough Council (HBC).

      Current Markets Hastings currently has two regular markets:

      • Kings Road Market

      • Hastings Town Centre Market

      Both markets operate under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between:

      • Hastings Borough Council (HBC)

      • Let's Do Business Group (LDBG)

      • Sussex Concepts (SC)

      1. Organisations responsible for each market/project

      Kings Road Market

      • Managed by: Sussex Concepts (SC) 

      Hastings Town Centre Market

      • Managed by: Let's Do Business Group (LDBG)

      Small Plates - Information not held 

      Get Hastings - Information not held 

      2. Support provided by Hastings Borough Council Under the MOU, HBC provides oversight rather than operational management.

      Support includes:

      • Monitoring compliance with legal requirements for trading and markets

      • Regular discussions with LDBG and SC about operations, issues, and development

      • Annual review reports, covering trading levels, successes, problems, compliance and plans

      • Six monthly review meetings to discuss performance, accounts, and any concerns

      • Promotion of local markets on HBC web pages

      • Setting consent fees and agreeing pitch fee scales with both market controllers

      • Providing advice on statutory requirements, licensing, food hygiene and safety Day to day running of each market is entirely the responsibility of LDBG and SC.

      3. Funding provided by Hastings Borough Council

      • Information not held - HBC does not provide funding to either market operator (SC or LDBG) under the current arrangements.

      • The Council previously agreed to reduced street trading fees (approved by Cabinet in 2014) to support the viability of these markets.
