Planning Fines

I was wondering if it is possible to receive the following information for the years of 2023, 2022 and 2021:

1. The number of times a breach of planning permission occurred.

2. The reason for the breach of planning permission.

3. The number of fines handed out and cost due to breach of planning permission.

Response

Whilst we do hold data for enforcement complaints, we do not have data that categorises the breaches between those where actual breaches occurred and those where in fact there was no breach.

All information regarding enforcement cases is held sensitively unless formal enforcement action is taken, and this can be viewed using our public access tool on our website:

In these cases, the reason for the breach and any fines levied will be noted in this public access part of the site.

In terms of the question regarding cost due to breach, this information is not held.
