Evictions from local authority housing

Can you please tell me:

1. How many people are living in local authority homes (council housing) in your local authority?

2. How many evictions have there been for rent arrears in:

a. 2020

b. 2021

c. 2022

d. so far in 2023

Response

1. Social Housing is owned and managed by Housing Associations in this area, mainly Orbit and Optivo.

Hastings Borough Council owns 29 properties in all, ranging from 2 to 4 bed households.

These properties are used as temporary accommodation and rent is paid directly by Housing Benefit. The only time the benefit will stop is due to a change of circumstances or to update information that is required. In this case we contact the occupants directly.
