FOI request (FOIR-480801569)
Request 4 - The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA)
Requested Tue 24 January 2023
Responded Fri 27 January 2023Part 4 of these unanswered points and data processing.
I ask you to provide me with case numbers of the three cases that were before the Surveillance Commissioners, now in The Investigatory Powers Tribunal?
Response
As an organisation that can carry out surveillance under RIPA legislation, Hastings Borough Council is required to have RIPA policies and procedures in place and ensure that staff are trained in the use of RIPA. Our policies and procedures are regularly inspected by the Investigatory Powers Commissioner's Office (IPCO), formerly the Office of the Surveillance Commissioners, to ensure that they continue to comply with, and reflect any updates to, the RIPA legislation.
The three IPCO visits to which you refer are for IPCO inspections of our policies and procedures. They do not relate to surveillance cases.
