Non Domestic Rates Data

Due to this and in terms of the Freedom of Information Act of 2000, and subject to section 40(2) on personal data, could you please provide me with a complete and up-to-date list of all business (non-residential) property rates data for your local authority, including the following fields:

1. Billing Authority Property Reference Code (linking the property to the VOA database reference)

2. Account Holder Name (including sole traders, limited companies, partnerships and PLCs)

3. Firm's Trading Name (if applicable)

4. Full Property Address (Number, Street, Postal Code, Town)

5. Occupied/Vacant

6. Date of Occupation/Vacancy

7. Actual Annual Rates (charged in Pounds)

8. Details of any reliefs or discounts applied to the account

9. Rateable Value

Please provide these data as machine-readable as either a CSV or Microsoft Excel file, capable of re-use, and under terms of the Open Government Licence (meaning reuse for any and all purposes, including commercial).

Response

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. The department that held the requested information has been dealing with all COVID-19 and government grants which has taken priority over day to day duties.

NOTICE OF REFUSAL

The information requested in respect of actual rates (charged in pounds) would require us to manually check each customer records, this would far exceed the time limit set out by the Information Commissioner. S12 of the Freedom of information Act 2000 provides an exemption from the obligation to comply with a request for information if the estimated costs of complying with that request would exceed the prescribed appropriate limit. We estimate that the costs of complying with your request would exceed the appropriate limit by a significant amount.

For this reason we feel unable to comply with this request.

Please note that the Property Reference Number relates to the property, not the account number for the customer. This reference is available on the internet, for example the gov.uk website regarding a property's rateable value.
