FOI request (FOIR-378124100)
Preventing Homelessness
Requested Fri 12 November 2021
Responded Mon 06 December 2021Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to know information regarding:
1. How much money has been spent on preventing homelessness within the past 2 years?
2. What are the statistics of the amount of children or young people without homes?
3. How many children have been housed within the past 2 years?
Response
Q1. Please refer to the council's budget as published on our website at:
https://www.hastings.gov.uk/my-council/transparency/budgets/
This sets out the total spend across the service. Alongside the council's core housing options service we provide a range of additional support including landlord incentives and homelessness support services, including Live Work Thrive, Rough Sleeping Initiative, Social Lettings Agency. These are all aimed at supporting people who are homeless or at threat of homelessness to access support as soon as possible.
Q2. There are currently 561 under 18 years of age, who will be 'homeless within the next 56 days' (prevention cases) or who are actually 'homeless'.
Q3. From 1st January 2020, 481 under 18 years of age, have been housed either through securing existing accommodation or securing alternative accommodation.
