Electrical Installation Condition Report

Responded Mon 18 October 2021I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information specific to your council area:
1. Do you currently collect the data of Electrical Information Condition Reports submitted to you detailing electrical hazards identified during a legal five yearly inspection?
2. The number of Electrical Information Condition Reports carried out in privately rented homes that have been submitted to you since June 2020* (please specify the council area you are providing figures for in your response).
3. Of the Electrical Information Condition Reports submitted to your council, please break down the number of Category 1 (C1) and Category 2 (C2) failures.
4. The number of these Electrical Information Condition Reports that have subsequently had the necessary remedial electrical work carried out to make the installation safe.
* Private landlords are required by law to submit Electrical Information Condition Reports that have identified C1 or C2 electrical hazards to the local authority, along with confirmation/proof that these have been fixed. This is following the introduction of mandatory five-yearly electrical checks in privately rented homes in England in June 2020.

* Private landlords are required by law to submit Electrical Information Condition Reports that have identified C1 or C2 electrical hazards to the local authority, along with confirmation/proof that these have been fixed. This is following the introduction of mandatory five-yearly electrical checks in privately rented homes in England in June 2020. Landlords are only required to submit Electrical Information Condition Reports to the local authority IF REQUESTED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY.
1. Electrical Information Condition Reports are requested with licensing applications.
2. Hastings Borough Council - Electrical Information Condition Reports are requested with licensing applications. Since June 2020 we have received 288 licensing applications.
3. See No 4.
4. No action taken via Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 so numbers cannot be reported. Electrical Safety is dealt with under electrical hazard under part 1 of the Housing Act 2004.
