FOI request (FOIR-239212717)
Boating Lake
Requested Mon 17 August 2020
Responded Tue 15 September 2020I request all information regarding the lease of the boating lake since Hastings council became the Trusts appointees. In particular the meetings considering the least renewal in 2015 and the length of the current lease term. I understand the lease has since been sold for several million to a private person, or persons. Could you provide details, please?
Why am I requesting this? Because I love this town, and see the boating lake in its current form as holding back business energy in a prominent part of our seafront. It offers high potential, consequently, I need to know it's current status, and the possibility of potential improvements. Also, I am concerned about the council cabinets decision making in renewing the lease without offering it up to auction or even better advertising it up to best interest capital adventurers.
Response
The boating lake is part of Stade Amusements and the lease renewal for this site was considered at Charity Committee on 21 March 2016 however this was discussed under Part 2 (private and confidential) public minutes are publicly available at: https://hastings.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s13043/Minutes%20Public%20Pack%2021032016%20Charity%20Committee.pdf
The lease is publically available from the HM Land Registry: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/land-registry
We hold no details of the lease being sold for several million to a private person.
The lease was assigned to Luxury Leisure on 3 August 2016.
