FOI request (FOIR-158558486)
Children taken into emergency refuge due to domestic abuse
Requested Mon 25 November 2019
Responded Mon 09 December 2019I work with 'The Buddy Bag Foundation'. We are a charity that provide refuges with backpacks for children that have been taken there in an emergency so they have some essential items such as toothbrushes and underwear.
We are reviewing our targets and need some assistance from yourself and other councils. Could you inform me approximately how many children have been taken into emergency housing/refuge fleeing domestic abuse in the last 12 months in your area. This can help make sure we are providing enough bags to the refuges and not saturating them or falling short.
Response
The only information we hold is the number of households that we may have referred/placed in refuge. This information is available on government's website https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-homelessness.
Children's Services is dealt with by East Sussex County Council, please visit their website for further information: www.eastsussex.gov.uk
