FOI request (FOI224035)
Disused water tanks in Hastings Country Park
Requested Fri 15 September 2017
Responded Fri 15 September 2017Sometime in December 2016 it was reported that a Belted Galloway cow had fallen into a disused water tank in Hastings Country Park and was drowned.
This aroused public concern as it appears there are other disused water tanks in the Country Park and Hastings Council stated they would carry out an inspection to find the location of these tanks.
Has this inspection taken place, how many other disused water tanks were located and what measures has the council taken to ensure such a tragedy cannot happen again.
Is there now a map to indicate where these tanks are situated.
Response
An inspection to find additional water tanks was undertaken immediately. One additional water tank was found. This has been fenced off and is now secure and inaccessible to cattle and members of the public. The tanks are not shown on ordnance survey maps.
