Discretionary Housing Payment
Requested Mon 23 January 2017
Responded Mon 23 January 2017Please can you tell me what information you ask Discretionary Housing Payment applicants to provide to help ascertain whether they are eligible for the payment.
Response
This is information is held
Housing Benefit administer the Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP), however Housing Services may assist clients to apply/complete a DHP form based on the information that they have provided us regarding their current housing situation and income. However, it is Housing Benefit that would determine whether or not a client is actually eligible for DHP and would request the relevant information directly from the client. Housing Services do advise clients that if Housing Benefit request any information then they must provide it, as failing to do so, may delay any payments if they are eligible for it.
Please see attached forms for Housing Benefit customers and a new form for customers claiming Universal Credit. As the forms gather a significant amount of data It is not possible to make a blanket decision on Discretionary Housing Payment awards without full details from the application form.
