Council Tax Debt

(1)  How many households were in Council Tax Debt, and what was the total amount of Council Tax debt owed by these households, at the end of each financial year from 2003/04 to 2015/16?

(2)  What was the total amount of Council Tax debt (a) repaid and (b) written off during the course of each financial year from 2003/04 to 2015/16? 

(3)  With regard to the repayments stated in part (2), (a) how many of the households making repayments were doing so through a Debt Management Plan, and (b) how much was repaid through a Debt Management Plan?

(4)  How many objections to Debt Management Plan proposals have the council made in each of the financial years from 2010/11 to 2015/16?  Please indicate how many of these were objections to (a) initial DMP proposals, and (b) proposals for variation of an existing DMP.

Response

The information regarding questions 1 and 2 is contained on a standard government return. The data has been compiled from various reports and confirms debt, collection and write offs. This data usually takes at least 4 days to compile each financial year which would exceed the time limit of 18 hours as set by the Information Commissioner so copies of those reports for each year has been provided. With regard to questions 3 and 4 we do not record such data.
