FOI request (FOI-84938255)
A history of conflict between Hastings Borough Council and Rother associated with long shore drift
Requested Wed 15 August 2018
Responded Thu 06 September 2018I have a recollection of a Bexhill Observer article from around 1987/88 (approximately) which referred to Rother asking Hastings for the return of their shingle. This may possibly have been a result of the great storm of 87.I have searched through some spools of microfilm in the library but unfortunately have had no success in locating the article to date. It was suggested to me that I could perhaps obtain this information from your office maybe in the form of minutes from meetings? If you can assist me in any way with this matter I would be extremely grateful.
Response
We have reviewed the hard copy council minutes from October 1987 to May 1988 and have found reference to storm damage and separately to shingle removal at that time but no connection to Rother District Council is indicated.Hastings Borough Council holds no further information.See attached documents for your information.Attachments
