Responded Mon 09 April 2018I would like to make the following request under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please answer the following questions as fully as possible.
1) How many trees have been felled by the council in the last three years for which data is available - please provide a year by year breakdown.
2) How much has it cost the council to fell trees in the last three years? Please provide year by year breakdown of total cost.
3) Does the council have a target number of trees to fell in each year? What is the purpose of the tree felling?
Response
The figures includes Hastings Borough Council trees as well as East Sussex County Council Highway trees for which we manage on their behalf (they give us a budget for managing and monitoring)
Q1 -
2014-2015 - 334 trees felled
2015-2016 - 353 trees felled
2016-2017 - 308 trees felled
Q2 -
2014-2015 - £70,483.86
2015-2016 - £67,749.99
2016-2017 - £54,838.09
Q3 - No target for tree felling. Purpose of tree felling is to manage the risk of trees causing harm to persons or damage to property.
