FOI request (FOI-66206355)
Brownfield sites
Requested Fri 19 January 2018
Responded Mon 05 March 2018I'd like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act. I'm happy to receive a response electronically.
- How many brownfield sites have you got permission to build houses on? Please do not include those with permission for office space only.
- How many new homes would those sites create?
- What has your council's current housing target been set at (if any)?
Response
Please accept my apologies for the slight delay in responding.
Q1 - Hastings Borough Council have 15 sites that are permissioned for 5 or more dwellings in the borough, as of 31 December 2017. Sites of 4 or less are much more fluid. As of 31 December we have 103 small sites permissioned for some form of new dwelling development.
From both these sources 16 sites are sites for building new houses, as opposed to permission for sub-divisions, change of uses etc.
Q2 - If all sites were developed from all the above sources 670 dwellings would be created. If only looking at sites for building new houses then 276 homes would be expected to be built on these permissioned sites.
Q3 - The current house target is set in the Hastings Planning Strategy 2011-2028 at 3,400 net new homes during the plan period. This is equivalent to an average of 200 homes each year.
