Street Cleansing and Service Delivery

Responded Tue 14 July 2026Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would be grateful if you could provide the following information relating to the Council's street cleansing fleet and operations:
A list of all road sweepers owned or leased by the Council with a GVW of under 4 tonnes, including make and model.
For leased sweepers, the lease start and end dates (month and year only).
For owned sweepers:
Year purchased.
Planned replacement date or details of any fleet renewal programme.
Confirm whether street cleansing services are carried out in-house or by a contractor.
If contracted out, provide the name of the contractor.

Please see attached spreadsheet showing details of Hastings Borough Council’s street cleaning fleet.
There are no leased sweepers and the dates of purchase of the vehicles are included in the list.
There are no planned replacement dates or details of any fleet renewal programme as we are currently in the process of the Devolution and Local Government reorganisation.
There are currently new vehicles to be provided for street cleaning and Hastings Borough Council has reported this at Hastings gets major new investment to clean and maintain our high streets.
Street cleaning services in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea are in house.
