Please provide 5 years worth of data for the following, to the below timelines: 

• 1st June 2025 > 31st May 2026
• 1st June 2024 > 31st May 2025 
• 1st June 2023 > 31st May 2024
• 1st June 2022 > 31st May 2023
• 1st June 2021 > 31st May 2022    

Requested data, for response:

a.                  Does your council offer kerbside recycling waste collection of batteries and/or small electrical products? (Please answer: batteries and small electrical products, batteries only, small electrical products only, or no)

b.                  What is the quantity (in weight) of vaping products processed in the recycling waste facilities in your council area?

c.                  What is the overall quantity (in weight) of battery and/or small electrical items processed in the recycling waste facilities in your council area? 

d.                  How many fire incidents have occured at waste disposal, recycling sites, or in bin lorries?

I would prefer to receive the response via email in Excel or CSV format. If the data gathering exceeds the time limit, please provide a response to section 1, 2, and 3 up to the time limit.

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are the responsibility of East Sussex County Council.

With regard to your specific questions:

a.                  Does your council offer kerbside recycling waste collection of batteries and/or small electrical products? (Please answer: batteries and small electrical products, batteries only, small electrical products only, or no) -

Answer: Small household batteries, (not industrial or car batteries) small electrical items (for example, toasters) or vapes can be recycled, by placing these in a separate bag (not black) on top of either the rubbish bin or recycling bin for collection. For weekly collections, household batteries, small electrical items or vapes can be placed in a carrier bag next to the seagull proof sack or black bags. These items should not be put in recycling or waste. Details of this are at Batteries and small electrical items.

b.                  What is the quantity (in weight) of vaping products processed in the recycling waste facilities in your council area?

Answer: This information is the responsibility of East Sussex County Council.

c.                  What is the overall quantity (in weight) of battery and/or small electrical items processed in the recycling waste facilities in your council area? 

Answer: This information is the responsibility of East Sussex County Council.

d.                  How many fire incidents have occurred at waste disposal, recycling sites, or in bin lorries?

Answer: This information is the responsibility of East Sussex County Council, although bin lorries are generally the responsibility of the contractor.
