Animal collections

Responded Fri 10 July 2026I am writing to submit a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for information held by your organisation relating to the animal collections in your jurisdiction.
My research is concerned with public aquaria and public animal collections that house aquatic species, with the aim of evaluating the conservation, education and research outputs of these institutions across the U.K. and identifying areas where collections and research institutions could better collaborate to achieve shared goals.
To this end, I would be grateful if you could send me electronic copies of the following for each site within your jurisdiction:
• The latest zoo licence certificate and any supplemental information.
• The most recent pre-inspection audit, including all attachments.
• The annual animal inventories for the years 2019 to 2026 inclusive (or however many of those years you hold on file, if any have since been destroyed in line with your retention policy).
