FOI request (FOIR-631808307)
Anti-poverty strategy
Requested Thu 18 July 2024
Responded Thu 08 August 2024I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from Hastings Borough Council:
1. Does your council have a written anti-poverty strategy (this may also be referred to as a 'poverty strategy')? This may be an all-age strategy, or one focussing on a specific group of the population, such as a child poverty strategy. If so, please provide a link to the strategy if it is available publicly, or a copy via email.
2. If your council does not have an anti-poverty strategy in place, does it plan to develop one within the next 12 months? If so, please provide a link to any public facing document detailing this commitment.
3. Has your council voluntarily adopted the socio-economic duty?
Response
1. Information not held. Hastings Borough Council (HBC) does not currently have an anti-poverty strategy.
2. HBC does not have an explicit commitment at this point to creating a strategy within the next 12 months. However, at our Overview and Scrutiny Committee 18 July 2024, see report https://hastings.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s53712/Work%20Programme%202024%202025.pdf, Councillors committed to the following 'Anti-Poverty Strategy' points 14 to 18 in the above report.
3. HBC has not formally adopted the socio-economic duty.
