Residential damp and mould in your council area

I am writing to you under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request information regarding residential damp and mould In your council area.

I would like to request:

1. The number of (a) category 1 and (b) category 2 damp and mould issues in the private rental sector reported to the council in each of the last five years (2019 to 2024 up to and inclusive of 16 February 2024).

2. The number of private rental sector dwellings that the council currently estimates to have an issue with damp and mould.

I would be grateful if this can be given as both a number and proportion of all private rental sector stock in the council area.

Response

1. Please see below, figures that show Category 1 and Category 2 for all damp and mould complaints. This includes the private rented sector and Housing Association properties. Our system does not differentiate between the two.

2019/20 - Category 1 = 2, Category 2 = 89

2020/21 - Category 1 = 4, Category 2 = 17

2021/22 - Category 1 = 5, Category 2 = 27

2022/23 - Category 1 = 4, Category 2 = 36

2023/24 - Category 1 = 4, Category 2 = 46

2. We do not hold this data. However a stock condition survey has recently been undertaken for the Borough and you may find the information contained in it useful:
