FOI request (FOIR-517314690)
Exempt rents in social housing
Requested Fri 19 May 2023
Responded Thu 10 August 2023I would be grateful if you could provide the following information in respect of approved rent levels where the property is run by providers of exempt accommodation (regardless of whether they are registered as providers of social housing with the RSH) covering the period of the last 3 financial years (i.e. 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022 - 2023):
1. Please provide weekly Housing Benefit eligible rent levels paid for all supported accommodation in the Borough and clarify if these are supported but not exempt or supported exempt.
2. Please advise the threshold levels at which you consider supported accommodation to be unreasonably expensive, and therefore subject to restriction.
3. If possible, please could you show the total/gross weekly rent split between the core rent, eligible and ineligible service charges. Can you indicate which year the rents are for?
Response
Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding.
1. This is included within the attached spreadsheet. However, there is no current requirement to hold details if a property is supported but not exempt or supported exempt so this data is not available.
2. There is no threshold held in legislation at which supported accommodation is considered unreasonably high. Any new schemes that are developed must be considered on a case-by-case basis and on the demographic of service users in the scheme, the type of property, and the level of ineligible/eligible services to name some of the criteria that is considered.
3. This is included within the attached spreadsheet.
