Islamophobia

Please can I request the following information under the FOIA 2000.

1. Has the council adopted the APPG on British Muslims' definition of Islamophobia from the report 'Islamophobia Defined'? The definition in question is: 'Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness'.

2. If yes, when was it adopted and was it following a unanimous vote? An indication of the votes for and against would be helpful.

3. Please can you share any minutes of meetings from the discussion of the definition prior to the vote, in the event it was adopted, or rejected subsequently.

4. Has the council also adopted the IHRA working definition of anti-Semitism?

In relation to questions 1, 2 and 3, no information is held.

We have had a motion using the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism on 21st October 2020 and can be found at:

There have been numerous motions on tackling inequality and hate crimes towards different religious groups. One is included in the papers of 21st October 2020 another was at 13th July 2022 and can be found at:

As a result of the 13th July 2022 motion, there is now a equalities working group.
