I would like to find out how many council tenants in the council's jurisdiction were evicted for rent arrears in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 (so far) please.

Response

Hastings Borough Council owned properties were only used for temporary accommodation from 2019 to 2022.

This accommodation is licensed, therefore no tenancy agreements are issued. Housing Benefit pays the rent in most cases.

Most of the social housing in the borough is owned and managed by Register Providers. The 2 biggest ones are Optivo and Orbit. We do not hold information on who they evict for rent arrears unless that household presents to us as homeless.
