FOI request (FOIR-412513104)
Further reports re Alexandra Park Cycle path
Requested Fri 01 April 2022
Responded Fri 08 April 2022Thank you for this information from my last request.
Hastings Borough Council established a working group in 2015 to discuss and assess the initial cycle route proposals. Members of the group included Hastings and Rother Disability Forum, Friends of Alexandra Park, English Heritage, The Greenway Group, Hastings Urban Bikes, Ramblers Association, together with East Sussex County Council officers and councillors from East Sussex County Council and Hastings Borough Council. Hastings and Rother Disability Forum was, at that time, the representative umbrella organisation for disability groups in Hastings and Rother and spoke on behalf of disability users of the park. As a result of working group discussions, the original plans were amended to take account of various issues.
Could I please have access to the reports and comments on the cycle path which were submitted by Hastings and Rother Disability Forum, The Friends of Alexandra Park, English Heritage, and Ramblers Association? If any other reports exist which cover the ability of the disabled/blind/deaf/elderly to navigate the length of this park free of the bike lane please could they be provided? Together with any comments which relate to access of the toilets (both of them) only being accessed via crossing/entering the cycle path.
Response
Hastings Borough Council does not hold specific reports on the cycle path submitted by the organisations listed.
The notes of the reference group meeting of 16th April 2015 are attached.
The council does not hold, or is aware of, any reports which cover the ability of the disabled/blind/deaf/elderly to navigate the length of this park free of the bike lane or any comments which relate to access of the toilets (both of them) only being accessed via crossing/entering the cycle path.
