Alexandra Park cycle path

Responded Fri 01 April 2022Please supply the timetable for consideration of a new byelaw to allow bicycles and other vehicles to access Hastings parks and open spaces, including Hastings Borough Council meetings and possible consideration by the Secretary of State.
Please supply the safety audit on the proposed vehicle route through Alexandra Park.
What provision is being made for the employment of enforcement officers to prevent anti-social behaviour in the event of this byelaw being adopted?
Response
The timetable for the adoption of byelaws for Pleasure Grounds, Public Walks and Open Spaces is as follows:
• Public consultation over the proposed byelaws took place from 15th July to 30th August 2021.
• The Secretary of State for the Department for levelling Up, Housing and Communities, confirmed their approval for Hastings Borough Council to make these byelaws on 24th January 2022.
• A further 28 day consultation took place from 28th February to 28th March 2022.
• It is proposed a report will be presented to Cabinet on 6th of June which will be forward to Full Council on 13th July for decision over adoption of the new byelaws for Pleasure Grounds, Public Walks and Open Spaces.
Hastings Borough Council did not commission the safety audit. The safety audit for the cycle route was commissioned by, and is available through, East Sussex County Council:

Enforcement will be undertaken by our Warden Service and our Park Ranger.
