FOI request (FOIR-365034231)
Homeless families support
Requested Wed 22 September 2021
Responded Wed 29 September 2021I work for The Lullaby Trust, we are a charity that raises awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families. I am conducting some research on behalf of ourselves, and the Shared Health Foundation, to understand what policies and procedures are in place with regards to the provision of a safe sleep space (Moses basket, travel cot, cot) for homeless families with infants (under 12 months old) in temporary accommodation. Please could you provide me with any information or policies that you have with regards to what would be provided (if anything) and who is responsible for providing this to these families, if known. We are aiming to better understand the challenges that local organisations face as well as the families for whom they provide support.
Response
All households with children under the age of 12 months who are placed in emergency accommodation are asked whether they have a cot or a Moses basket for the child to sleep in. If they do not have a cot or a Moses basket the household are provided with one by the emergency accommodation provider.
