FOI request (FOIR-358066983)
POCA Roles
Requested Mon 23 August 2021
Responded Tue 02 November 2021I am conducting a study that will develop our understanding of the people working in the roles created by the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA). Under this legislation, all local authorities are designated as bodies which can employ Financial Intelligence Officers (FIOs) and Accredited Financial Investigators (AFIs) under the POCA.
As part of this research, I would therefore like to request the following information from yourselves under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
1. The number of staff in your agency who currently hold roles under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (such as Financial Intelligence Officers (FIOs) and Accredited Financial Investigators (AFIs). From this figure, please could you also provide an answer to the following:
a. How many staff are FIOs and how many are AFIs?
I am happy to receive your response in the format most convenient to you.
The data you provide will be used as part of my study, and be included in a PhD thesis titled 'Breaking down barriers; the pluralised world of financial investigation'. I will be happy to provide you with a link to this upon publication should you wish to see it.
Response
Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding.
Hastings Borough Council do not have anyone who is either a Financial Intelligence Officer (FIO) or Accredited Financial Investigator (AFI) under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
