    Selective licensing scheme

    Please could you supply me with as much as possible of the following information:

    1. The number of landlords and private rented properties that were registered with the selective licensing scheme.

    2. Any estimate you hold of the number of private rented properties within the selective licensing area that remained unlicensed, during the operation of the scheme.

    3. Whether the scheme was self-funding, or supported by other council or central government revenue; and if the latter, an estimate of how much revenue was supplied to the scheme.

    4. During the operation of the scheme, the number of landlords with properties within the selective licensing area who were prosecuted for either:

    a) failing to obtain a license under the selective licensing scheme.

    b) other offences under the Housing Act 2004.

    5. Any information available on how the fees for the scheme were calculated.

    6. And finally, please supply any evaluation you have carried out on the impact of the scheme.


    Response

    1. The number of landlords and private rented properties that were registered with the selective licensing scheme.

    Answer: 8133

    2. Any estimate you hold of the number of private rented properties within the selective licensing area that remained unlicensed, during the operation of the scheme.

    Answer: Information not held

    3. Whether the scheme was self-funding, or supported by other council or central government revenue; and if the latter, an estimate of how much revenue was supplied to the scheme.

    Answer: Self funded

    4. During the operation of the scheme, the number of landlords with properties within the selective licensing area who were prosecuted for either:

    a) failing to obtain a license under the selective licensing scheme.

    Answer: 32 prosecutions for failing to licence

    Answer: 22 civil penalties for failure to license

    b) other offences under the Housing Act 2004.

    Answer: 5 civil penalties

    Answer: 8 prosecutions

    5. Any information available on how the fees for the scheme were calculated.
