FOI request (FOIR-345554045)
Requested Tue 29 June 2021
Responded Fri 09 July 2021
It has recently been reported that HBC have had their request to extend the landlord licensing scheme denied by MHCLG. In 2019 that department released a report into the effectiveness of Landlord Licensing scheme.
1. I presume the council considered this review in detail before applying for an extension of the licensing scheme in Hastings?
2. I presume the council put supporting documents together with the application to extend the license, can you share these here?
3. Can you share any documents which demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme at reducing:
b. incidences of rogue landlords in Hastings since its creation?
4. Given that the government's review points out that in some cases these licensing schemes do drive up property prices, can you share the research Hastings borough Council has already done to investigate whether this was the case in Hastings?
