Essential/Regular Car User allowance

Responded Tue 10 November 2020Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, could you please answer the following questions:
Do you pay an Essential/Regular Car user allowance to staff?
If yes:
Do you pay a lump sum? If so, how much?
How often is it paid?
What posts currently attract the allowance?
What are the criteria for receiving the essential/regular car user allowance, such as annual minimum mileage, designated post etc?
Please provide a copy of your current Essential/Regular car user policy.
Response
1. Hastings Borough Council only pays Essential and Casual User allowances to 6 protected staff who have a contractual right to receive it and who were in post at 27/11/2001 - 4 Essential Users and 2 Casual users

a) Essential Users paid lump sums of £1239 per year, based on cc of car
b) Paid in 12 monthly instalments

NOTICE OF REFUSAL
The information requested is exempt information under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 'personal data' the release of job titles could identify an individual. This is an absolute exemption and will not be provided.
