Active Travel Funding

To this end I would be grateful if you could kindly confirm/provide the following information relating to active and sustainable travel:

Can you please confirm whether the Council has applied for (or is planning to apply for) any Government funding relating to active and sustainable travel (e.g. walking and cycling)?

If so, can you please confirm whether you have been successful in accessing funds and how much has been awarded?

Please confirm if the council has any plans in place on how to use this funding?

Please confirm the individual and department (name and job title) responsible and how we can potentially contact them to discuss further?

Response

Hastings Borough Council's Active Hastings team has not considered this funding. Therefore there are no plans at present to apply for funding in this area.

Our team continues to operate the Seafront Cycle Hire, supported the 2019 Car Free Day and has co-ordinated the annual Hastings and Rother Cycle Festivals over the past few years (Please note that the 2020 Festival was cancelled to due to COVID-19. The team are keen to discuss how they could potentially support other partners plans in this area.

In addition to this East Sussex County Council (ESCC) are doing a lot in this area, including in Hastings. We think the questionnaire should be referred to ESCC for details of their Active Travel funding - https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk
