I was discussion Hastings with a person yesterday and heard something for the first time that I wish to have clarified. That was, the Oval was purchased by Hastings Borough Council.

Can you confirm this is the case and also from whom they purchased it from. I was always led to believe that this land belonged to the people of Hastings.

The Oval is a public open space purchased from Robert John Wastel Arbuthnot Brisco to Hastings Corporation on 13 February 1922

Purchase being authorised by and requiring for the purposes of the Municipal Corporations the Public Health and other Acts.
