Response
Q1 - The cremators were replaced with the addition of abatement equipment in 2011 at a cost of £36990.50
2013-14 the chapel was reordered and decorated, the pews were removed and chairs put in, increasing seating from 60 -74 and air conditioning was fitted, the works were around £50,000.
2014-2015 when we built a new under cover flower display area away from the building. https://www.fordingbridge.co.uk/case-studies/hastings-crematorium/
At the same time we refurbished and re-purposed the old flower display area (which originally was the south chapel) to an overflow room/ chapel with 40 seats and a 65” screen, increasing our capacity to 114 seated.
At the same time we put in a new sound system and hearing loop for both rooms.
The full works came to over £120,000.
Internally the cremators were full re-lined 2016-2017 at just under £39,000 each.
Smaller works, the waiting room was re-painted and carpeted in 2017-18, along with touching up various doors, windows gates and other fixtures. Around the same time the office building, built in 1856, had roofing and pointing work, and a new widow, the works were just over £25,000.
