FOI request (FOIR-110912149)
Entertainment Licence
Requested Mon 25 March 2019
Responded Wed 10 April 2019Please can you notify me the name (s) of any Music based events/festivals held in your area council's geographical area that required/requires an entertainment licence, having a capacity of at least 5,000 (five thousand), and the capacity of each event/festival, as granted by YOUR licence, that took place in 2018, or has already, or will take place in 2019.
Response
Four open space sites are licensed by Hastings Borough Council for outdoor music events, with premises licences under the Licensing Act 2003.
1. Stade Beach
2. Stade Open Space
3. The Oval
4. Warrior Square Gardens
There is no such 'licence' as an 'entertainments licence'. The LA2003 combines regulated entertainment, sale of alcohol and late night refreshment, with each premises authorised as applied for, or subject of licensing committee following a hearing.
Events 2018 -
Stade Beach entertainment marquee at Seafood & Wine.
Stade Open Space - Stade Saturdays through summer season and 'Nearly on the Beach Concert' August carnival week.
The Oval - Hastings Beer and music festival 4 days in July and Music First Concert in May.
Warrior Square Gardens - St Leonards Festival one Saturday in June.
2018 - Stade Beach - not known yet by Licensing. Stade Open Space - Stade Saturdays not known to Licensing at this date. The Oval - HBMF in July 2019. Warrior Square Gardens - crowd funding at present. Capacities exceeding 5000 probably only the Hastings Beer and Music Festival on The Oval.
There were no events that attracted audiences of over 5,000 people in Stade Open Space or Warrior Square Gardens in 2018 and none that will attract that volume of audience are planned for 2019 however it is likely that the Hastings Beer and Music Festival which is held on The Oval each year may attract in excess of 5,000 people.
