FOI request (FOIR-104726816)
GP Surgeries
Requested Tue 05 February 2019
Responded Mon 11 February 2019Freedom of Information Act request (FOI) requesting data on the number of GP surgeries that have a hoist to assist mobility impaired persons transfer onto an examination table.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is conducting research in order to determine the number of GP Practises/ Surgeries throughout the United Kingdom that are accessible to persons with reduced mobility. In order to assist us with our research, we kindly request the following information:
1, How many of the GP surgeries/ Practises offering GP services within your Local Authority have step- free access. In addition, how many practises offering GP services do not have step -free access?
2, In the event that a patient requiring step- free access was to attend a practise that did not offer step- free access, what contingency plan/ reasonable adjustment, if any, is implemented to ensure the patient receives the treatment they require without significant delay and in a reasonable time-frame.
3, How many surgeries and clinics within your Local Authority offering GP services have a hoist installed (either mobile or ceiling) to assist a patient transfer from a wheelchair onto a GP’s examination table. How many GP surgeries and buildings offering GP services do not have a hoist installed? In the event that a hoist is not available, what reasonable adjustment/adjustments are put in place to ensure the patient can receive treatment without delay?
I look forward to hearing from you & thank you for your assistance with this matter.
