FOI request (FOI209827)
Planning: Isolated homes in the countryside
Requested Thu 30 March 2017
Responded Thu 30 March 2017This is a Freedom of Information request about planning applications and approvals for new, isolated homes in the countryside, by your council.
Context:
Under the previous government planning guidelines PPS7, introduced in 2004, local planning authorities could approve new, isolated homes in the countryside based on the "exceptional quality and innovative nature of the design," where it was "truly outstanding and ground-breaking." ( PPS7, Paragraph 11).
Under the current National Policy Planning Framework, local authorities can still approve new isolated homes in the countryside based on "the exceptional quality or innovative nature of the design" where it was "truly outstanding or innovative." ( NPPF, Paragraph 55).
Questions:
1. How many applications for new isolated homes in the countryside did your council receive each year from 2004-2012, related to, citing or under PPS7, Paragraph 11, and how many of those did it approve?
2. How many applications for new isolated homes in the countryside did your council receive each year since 2012, related to, citing or under NPPF, Paragraph 55, and how many of those did it approve?
Answers:
As far as it is possible, please could you provide the answers in table form, by completing the attached pdf document, in electronic form to this email address.
Response
All planning applications are publically available on our website www.hastings.gov.uk
Notwithstanding this, Hastings Borough Council is mostly urban authority with no remote countryside and the term isolated is also not defined so we are unable to answer the questions raised.
