Plant species
Requested Tue 03 January 2017
Responded Fri 06 January 2017A list of all plant species that have the Council wishes to conserve as part of its local Biodiversity Action plan (may be designated as 'priority species' or a 'special species'). If there is no local biodiversity action plan in force, please provide me with any list of plant species that the council has made it a priority to protect.
Response
The Local Biodiversity Action Plan for Hastings was published to cover the period 2006- 2009. It concentrated on process to embed biodiversity within council decision making. It mirrored the strategic aims of the Government's BAPs and listed the national BAP habitats that occur in Hastings. It did not list plant species or prioritise the conservation of individual plant species. The council is prioritising the conservation and management of habitats to ensure conditions are right for rare flora and fauna to thrive. We do not list BAP plants.
