Responded Wed 15 August 2018I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from the council…
For the past ten years, year on year, please provide the following data, (please specify whether the data is calendar or financial year):
How much has the council been spending on clearing up graffiti? (year on year for the past 10 etc)
How many cases of graffiti have been reported/recorded year on year, for the past 10 years?
How many of these cases were reported/recorded as racist - year on year, for the past 10 years?
How many of these cases were reported/recorded as sexist - year on year, for the past 10 years?
(Or are they recorded as hate crimes?)
How many times have places of worship been targeted - year on year, for the past 10 years?
Are there any examples of places that have been repeatedly targeted? If so how many times in the time frame.
What are the most targeted type of places / spaces?
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.
If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined please provide further advice and assistance to indicate this.

The cost is include within the core service cleansing contract please see spreadsheet attached, for figures We have around 20 locations that are targeted a couple of times a year - these are all stretches of pathways and hot spots for graffiti, or land surrounding by hoarding, they are not personal targets as its not the same graffiti that reoccurs.

Our parking ticket machines and toilets suffer from graffiti daily/weekly but these are cleared by a different contractor and not included within the street cleaning contract therefore are unable to provide these.
