Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IRHA)

124 local authorities have adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IRHA) definition of Anti-Semitism. From browsing the Hastings Borough Council website, I have been unable to ascertain whether HBC are one of those local authorities.

I did, however, find the following Freedom of Information request dated 1 September 2017: https://www.hastings.gov.uk/my-council/freedom-of-information/date/?id=FOI221866

Could you therefore please confirm the following:

1. That the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government wrote to Cllr Peter Chowney in January 2017 regarding the (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism.

2. That Hastings Borough Council has adopted this definition.

3. That the decision to adopt the definition was publicised, and, if so, please provide a link to where.

4. If the definition was not adopted, why it was not and whether Cllr Chowney responded to the Secretary of State.

Response

Hastings Borough Council did not receive a letter from the Secretary of State in January 2017 regarding (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism.

Hastings Borough Council has not adopted this definition.
