Are you working to immediately ban ALL flammable materials from ALL buildings, schools, workplaces, vehicles ?
Do you and your housing associations install, and then routinely inspect, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in all properties ?
Do you also ensure that all private landlords do so ?
Response
Q1. Information not held
Q2. We do not manage our own social housing stock. In respect to accommodation managed within our council social lettings agency, all properties receive risk based inspections at the point they are included on the scheme and are inspected 6 monthly thereafter. We ensure that smoke alarms are installed and carbon monoxide alarms are installed (where required) - alarms are regularly tested. We ensure all properties have valid gas safety and electrical safety certification. We do not hold information relating to the internal inspection processes of individual Housing Associations - questions need to be directed to individual Associations or their regulator. Optivo are our Large Scale Voluntary Transfer (LSVT).
Q3. In respect of private landlords the Council undertakes risk based inspections for properties licensed under Part 2 and Part 3 of the Housing Act 2004
In respect of Council Buildings - All risks are considered by the Corporate Risk Group and based on advice from our Health and Safety Advisor are actioned accordingly.
Schools are the responsibility of East Sussex County Council, please visit their website for further information: www.eastsussex.gov.uk
